PRIVATE IFR RATING
Once you’ve obtained your Private or Commercial Pilot Licence you may wish to fly in cloud or other weather conditions that do not allow for visual flight. The Private IFR Rating (PIFR) authorises you to act as pilot in command of an aircraft for flights under the IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) by day in single pilot aircraft having a MTOW not greater than 5700kg.
THEORY AND FLIGHT TRAINING
Flight training lessons include basic navaid orientation and tracking, en-route navigation under the IFR, full and limited panel IF, basic, en-route GNSS procedures and training as required for any private instrument rating endorsements as applicable.
The course includes
The syllabus is based on approximately 14 hours in the aircraft and 10 hours in the simulator inclusive of the PIR SEA or MEA flight test; however the time required to achieve competency will vary from student to student.
Course hours may be reduced for students who have amassed more than 2 hours IF prior to commencement of the course and achieve standard in less than syllabus hours.
PREREQUISITES
- This course has been developed for students who hold a PPL (A) or CPL (A) and have passed either the IREX or PIR theory exam.
