THEORY AND FLIGHT TRAINING
The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) builds on the skills developed during Recreational Pilot Licence training and allows pilots to fly throughout Australia while carrying passengers. Through a combination of practical flight training and theory instruction, students develop advanced competencies in navigation, flight planning, meteorology, air law, human factors, aerodynamics and aircraft systems. During the course, students learn to conduct cross-country flights, interpret weather information, operate from a variety of airports and runway surfaces, manage diversions and emergency situations, and safely plan and execute flights as Pilot in Command. The PPL is a significant milestone in any pilot's journey and forms the foundation for advanced training and future commercial aviation pathways.
THE RPC SYLLABUS
The PPL syllabus combines advanced flight training, structured theory briefings and a final flight test to ensure students have the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required to safely operate an aircraft anywhere within Australia. Students complete navigation exercises, passenger operations, flight planning activities and theory assessments before undertaking the CASA PPL theory examination and final flight test. Upon successful completion, graduates are qualified to operate an aircraft as Pilot in Command for private operations and are well positioned to continue towards Commercial Pilot Licence training.
