THEORY AND FLIGHT TRAINING
The Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) is one of the most cost-effective ways to begin your flight training in Australia and achieve your first pilot licence. Ideal for beginners, the RPC is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of aviation, combining structured theory with hands-on flying experience in a light aircraft. As part of your learn to fly journey, you will develop essential piloting skills including aircraft control, navigation, airspace awareness, and safe decision-making in real-world flying conditions. Training is conducted under the guidance of experienced instructors, ensuring you build both confidence and competence from your very first lesson.Throughout your pilot training, you will complete a series of dual flight hours, command hours, and theory briefings, all designed to prepare you for independent flying. Once your instructor is satisfied that you have reached the required standard, you will undertake a final flight test to obtain your Recreational Pilot Certificate. One of the key advantages of starting with an RPC is the clear progression pathway it provides. Upon completion, your RPC can be converted to a CASA Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) through a flight review with one of our senior instructors, along with the required documentation. This pathway allows you to seamlessly transition from recreational flying into more advanced training, expanding your privileges and opening the door to further certifications such as the Private Pilot Licence (PPL).
THE RPC SYLLABUS
The Recreational Pilot Certificate (RPC) syllabus combines practical flight training, structured theory briefings and a final competency-based flight assessment to ensure students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence required to safely operate an aircraft. Throughout the course, students complete dual and command flight training while building a strong understanding of aerodynamics, navigation, air law, meteorology and flight planning through classroom-based theory sessions. The program culminates in a flight test where students demonstrate their ability to apply both practical and theoretical knowledge, providing a solid foundation for recreational flying and future pilot training pathways.
