Whether your goal is to fly recreationally, build a career in commercial aviation or pursue opportunities with regional airlines and charter operators, White Star Aviation provides structured pilot training pathways designed to help you achieve your aviation ambitions. As a leading flight training academy in NSW, we deliver nationally recognised aviation qualifications, experienced flight instruction and real-world training environments that prepare students for successful careers in the aviation industry. With training locations in Ballina and Armidale, students benefit from access to uncongested airspace, modern training aircraft and experienced instructors who are committed to developing safe, confident and industry-ready pilots.

COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENCE (CPL)

A Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is the first professional pilot qualification, allowing you to fly for hire or reward. It provides the skills, knowledge and experience required to operate as a commercial pilot and pursue entry-level employment opportunities within the aviation industry.

INSTRUMENT RATING (IR)

The Instrument Rating allows the holder to fly as pilot in command in a single or multi engine aircraft under the Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), in conditions that would make visual flying (VFR) impractical allowing the pilot to fly without reference to the ground.

INSTRUCTOR RATING (FIR)

The Flight Instructor qualification allows you to share your passion with others as you begin your career as a professional flight instructor. You will be qualified to train both ground theory and the flight training required for licences, ratings and endorsements.

Industry Pilot Programs

The Torres Strait Air and HM Air Pilot Pathway Programs provide aspiring pilots with a unique opportunity to combine nationally recognised flight training with real-world operational experience and a direct pathway into commercial aviation. Through partnerships with two highly respected aviation operators, cadets complete their Commercial Pilot Licence and Instrument Rating while gaining valuable exposure to active charter operations. Students undertake scenario-based training in operational aircraft, flying real company routes and developing the practical decision-making, professionalism and aviation skills required by today's industry. Upon successful completion of the Double Diploma pathway, selected cadets transition into employment opportunities with either Torres Strait Air or HM Air, where they continue building flight experience in commercial operations while progressing their aviation careers.
